Easter Weekend 2013

We had such a great Easter Weekend! Rob had Friday off work, and my little brother came home for the weekend, and everything we did was relaxing yet meaningful. Here's a peak at what we did:

Cincinnati has some really great art deco architecture, and the Cincinnati Museum Center is one of my favorite buildings. We went to see the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit, which is in town until the middle of this month. It was so awesome to see these little pieces of parchment with tiny little ancient letters that speak of the most amazing story ever told. One of the bits on display was Isaiah 53, which prophecies about Jesus' life and death. It gave me goosebumps to read it and see it on Good Friday.

This is the roof over the rotunda in the Museum Center. This was where my junior prom was held. Cool, no? ;-)

This is also the rotunda. How great are these windows?

This is a piece of Islamic pottery. I can't remember anything about it, other than that it's gorgeous! I love the blues and the leaf pattern.

After the Dead Sea Scrolls, we grabbed LaRosa's pizza for dinner, and headed to church for the Good Friday service. This is how we roll for Good Friday:

Yup, the basketball goes with us everywhere these days...

Bright and early on Saturday morning, we headed back to church for the kids' Easter egg hunt! It was chilly, but the sun was out, which has been rare this spring.

Abe rocked the egg hunt. Can I tell you how cool this photo is for me? We got married in the chapel, I grew up in this chapel. I love the fact that Abe is growing up at my home church. Kinda makes me teary-eyed.

Mom, seriously? Just help me pick up the eggs...

The sun stayed out all day, so we spent some time outside. Abe was disappointed he couldn't actually help with the lawn. But he was easily distracted by, you guessed it, the basketball.

And Sunday morning was, of course, Easter Sunday! Doesn't matter the speaker, doesn't matter the specific message, I always cry a bit on Easter. This Sunday, we were encouraged to write down whatever it is we put in the place of God in our lives, then to put it down in front of the throne. It was a very real symbol of the sacrifice that we choose when we choose to accept the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross.

I hope you all had a great, restful, meaningful Easter weekend!
